Hot Raw Cacao Cacao Bliss Balls
with cayenne and maca
Preparation time: 20 min.
Yields; 20 medium size balls
1 cup raw cacao nibs
1 3/4 cup cashews
1 vanilla bean, seeds only
3 tablespoons lucuma powder
1 tablespoon maca powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons maple syrup (or ¼ cup agave nectar)
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons coconut oil – melted
- Process the cacao nibs in a blender at high speed for about 30 seconds. Transfer the ground nibs into the food processor.
- Add the vanilla bean and cashews and process until fairly fine.
- Add the lucuma powder, maca powder and salt and process for a few seconds.
- Add the maple syrup and coconut oil and blend until the dough is smooth.
- Refrigerate the dough for one hour or until it is firm enough to be handled and rolled into 1” diameter balls.
- Place the balls in decorative truffle paper cups.
- Decorate these yummy bliss balls with a choice of dried mango slices cut into heart shapes, pecans, cashews, a chunk of raw dark chocolate, whole cacao beans or simply roll them into cacao powder.
