REDIRECTING RESOURCES
Testing and diagnostic tools to check body wellness, allopathic or natural can be rather invasive, sometimes painful, always costly and frequently embarrassing. Do people who visit their doctors regularly have a greater degree of well-being? How much time and money is spent on prevention? Every farmer and mechanic will tell you that you must burn the right fuel so that your machines can operate efficiently. We know the cost of replacing spare parts on the vehicles we drive. Do we know the cost of knee or hip replacement, a heart by-pass, a hystorectomy, chemo and radiation, flu shots ,insuline dependance and a simple doctor’s consultation?
The Relay for Life in Salmon Arm raised 1.4 million. I honour the hard working volunteers but quarrel with the manner in which at least 80% of that money will be spent. Might it be possible for the community or schools in Salmon Arm to benefit directly with programs that teach family wellness? Could we not make available funding for preventive, holistic, chiropractic, massage clincs, spa’s and cancer retreat centres? ( Mara Retreat Centre on the River offers bi-annual cancer support weekends)
Many cancer patients suffering the effects of powerful chemo drugs desperately seek caring hands that provide loving relief in spa’s and wellness clinics. Shamefully, none of these treatments are covered by our national health care system. Research and (drug)development has shown itself to profit Pharmaceuticals to the tune of billions of dollars while ordinary citizens run for the cure, sell daffodils, wear pink ribbons and see no real change except in the endurance and suffering of the afflicted.
Why not spend some of these valuable people resources on education to prevent sickness on a cellular level? Is expensive medical intervention or drug therapy achieving the desired results or might we intuitively posses the answers to our body’s basic needs? Nobody knows your body as well as you. Educate yourself and develop habits that are in harmony with nature’s first law.
CREAMY CASHEW ASPARAGUS SOUP
This literally takes 6 minutes to make, but you do need a blender.
3 cups or boiling water
2 cups cut up asparagus ( woody ends removed)
1 cup cashews. Soaked for 1 -2 hours.
2 tsp. spicy herbamare.
1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice. (opt.)
Soak asparagus in boiling water for 5 minutes. Process all ingredients at high speed until soup is creamy. This soup is really filling. Add a large green salad and call it supper!
